Sales of OpenFlexure Microscope Kits to support new Humanitarian Technology Trust charity

Last year we introduced the OpenFlexure Microscope kits as a new product to our online store. The microscope kits are developed in collaboration with the OpenFlexure team and Open Science Shop. As we announced at the time, 20% of profits from sales of IO Rodeo kits are donated to the OpenFlexure team to support the continued development of the open hardware microscope. To date IO Rodeo has donated over $2,300 to OpenFlexure, thanks to our fantastic customers!

This week Julian Stirling (OpenFlexure) and colleagues announced the launch of the Humanitarian Technology Trust:

The Humanitarian Technology Trust is a UK-based charity focused on advancing open-source humanitarian technology through local manufacturing. It believes that empowering local manufacturers is the best way to ensure life-saving technologies reach the communities that need them most - www.httrust.org

The charity will support open hardware technologies that benefit humanity - starting with the OpenFlexure Microscope.

For the past 8 years OpenFlexure has worked with partners around the globe to create a high quality diagnostic tool that really can be made anywhere.” said Dr Julian Stirling, Chief Executive of the Humanitarian Technology Trust. “The Trust has been founded to support the project to move from building microscopes one-by-one, to enabling regulated production at scale around the world - www.httrust.org

We are very excited for this announcement and will continue to support the work of the OpenFlexure team by redirecting donations from sales of IO Rodeo's OpenFlexure kits to the Humanitarian Technology Trust.
